1. Will I be able to choose or amend the amount that I can pay into My Giving Account?

You can increase or decrease the value of your donations at any point during the year, please contact your payroll department. If you want to change your choice of charities, login to your My Giving Account at any time to amend these details. Please note, it can take up to 12 weeks for your first donation to show in your account.

2. How quickly will the charity receive my donation?

Donations are distributed by Charities Trust in line with the Payroll Giving regulations. For the majority of donations this means that the donation is passed to the charity within 35 days of receipt from the employer; in some circumstances it may take up to 60 days. Charities Trust makes two regular donations each month, ensuring that the charities your employees support receive donations quickly and cost-effectively.

3. Where do I find my payroll ID?

Your payroll ID number is typically found on your payslip and is the number you will have used when signing up to Payroll Giving.  If you are unsure of the number that was used when setting up the account please contact your payroll department for more information.

4. When I have logged in and searched for my charity I can't find them on the database.  Can I ask for my charity to be added to the Charities Trust database?

Charities Trust has a database of thousands of UK registered charities but if your preferred charity is not listed, you can complete a 'Charity Request Form' within the 'Donate to Charity' section of your My Giving Account and they will be added to the Charities Trust database once they have been validated. You will need to know the full charity name, address, registration number (Charity Commission, OSCR, HMRC etc.) and you will need to add your contact details to the form.

5. Is there a minimum or maximum number of charities that I can support?

There is no minimum or maximum number of charities you can support. The My Giving Account allows you to make regular monthly donations or alternatively you can accrue some funds which will then allow you to donate larger amounts of money when your charity needs your help the most.

6. Can I change my charity once I receive My Giving Account login details?

You can change the choice of charity at anytime by accessing your account and amending your instructions.

7. What do I do if I have misplaced my password or log in details?

If you misplace your password, visit www.mygivingaccount.co.uk and click on the link 'Forgotten Password', enter your username and email address and a link will be sent to you to create a new password.

If you have misplaced your username please email Charities Trust at info@mygivingaccount.co.uk with your account number and we will verify your account and provide further details.

8. What will happen to My Giving Account if I leave the company?

Payments from your salary will stop at the end of the month that you leave. Your My Giving Account with Charities Trust will remain active, until you decide to close it.

9. Can a charity claim Gift Aid on a My Giving Account donation?

No - if your donation is taken direct from your salary through Payroll Giving it has already received its full tax benefit. This means that no further tax allowance can be claimed on the donation.

10. When will I receive a Charity Cheque Book?

As the majority of donations are carried out online we do not automatically send out Charity Cheque Books, however once you have activated and logged into your account you can request this through the My Giving Account administration area.

11. What happens if I write a My Giving Account charity cheque for more than the funds available in my account?

Charities Trust can only make payments to charities if there are sufficient funds in your account. If a cheque is issued and there is no money in your account, the cheque will be held until there are sufficient funds available to make the payment; if we are unable to process the charity cheque, it will expire after six months from the date of issue.

We cannot guarantee that pending charity cheques will be redeemed in the order they were written.

12. Why is there no money in My Giving Account?

If you log on and there is no money in your account, this could be due to the processing that needs to take place between your payroll department and Charities Trust. As our system work in arrears, your account will be credited the following month after it has been deducted from your pay, so please consider this.

13. I have seen charities ask for donations by CAF vouchers - is this the same as Charities Trust My Giving Account charity cheques?

There are a number of Payroll Giving Agencies. CAF (Charities Aid Foundation) is one of them. They offer a Charity Account facility which is similar to the My Giving Account.  Charity cheques (or vouchers) from any Payroll Giving Agency can be used to make donations to any UK registered charity or recognised good cause.

14. Can I put completed charity cheques into a charity collection tin and/or envelopes?

Yes - the charity will forward the charity cheque to Charities Trust who will forward the donation out of your My Giving Account to the charity.

15. What if I am experiencing difficulties with My Giving Account online?

Email us on info@mygivingaccount.co.uk with as much detail as possible or contact Charities Trust's Customer Service Team on 0151 286 5129.

16. Can I use My Giving Account to donate to other fundraising platforms such as Just Giving or Virgin Money Giving?

Unfortunately you cannot use your My Giving Account to donate to Just Giving or Virgin Money Giving as our systems are not compatible. You may wish to donate to the charity directly using your My Giving Account instead. This can then be displayed on the relevant page as an offline donation. You may be interested to know that you can use your My Giving Account to donate to Sponsor Me pages.
